Summary
Bruno donned his ceremonial robe. It felt only right to honor them in some way. He felt they deserved at least that. Even though there was little resemblance between him and the animals, tiny as they were, they still came from him. Had they been bigger and fewer they might have passed for human babies. Their tails resembled his own rat tail and could be explained away as passed down from their- from him, even if he and his family had come by their animal features through magic.
There was nothing that connected him and the rats to each other, other than that they were his, and that Bruno loved them very much.
