"Did... you finally play the game, Hinata-kun?" He was still smiling, a bit subdued.
Hinata had already spoken about this more than he'd wanted to that morning. "I'm not gonna talk about anything with you, I'm gonna open these, and then leave."
"Okay," Komaeda agreed quietly, eyes wide as he watched Hinata's fingers work open the packaging on a bag of pretzels. His pupils contracted, following every movement with increasing intensity. The unpleasant rip of plastic speckled the silence between them, leaving huge gaps where Hinata swore he could hear the other boy breathing.
(Hinata feels just a little, tiny bit bad that Komaeda is hungry and tied up in the dining hall, and pays him a visit late at night.)

It falls to Hades to give the final approval on a new concept—the cat. Shenanigans ensue, and Hades is not amused.
“A cat.” Hades tested the name on his tongue. His eyes… watering. “Why is it making that sound?”
“It is pleased.” Hythlodaeus stroked his hand along its body. The sound only grew louder. “Lahabrea was adamant that it be named. It helps expedite… bonding.”
“I trust Lahabrea as far as I can throw him,” Hades quipped. “Therefore, I will absolutely not—“
“You could name it after her.”
“No,” Hades growled.
“Or, after something she loves,” Hythlodaeus kept on. “Stars. The Zodiacus—“
“Diacus, then,” Hades shot out, exasperated. Tired. “Does it truly matter?”
Hythlodaeus scratched the underside of the cat’s chin. “Diacus. What do you think? Good name?”
The creature nuzzled his fingers, still quite pleased with itself.

Kazuma took a second - perhaps a minute - to absorb that, cautious that he must have misheard. But Ryuunosuke was unwavering still, painfully gentle with each prodding word, and what is Kazuma anyway, if not once again helplessly pulled into Ryuunosuke’s orbit.

Athena does not begrudge him—if anything, it’s flattering to see her brooch winking on his chiton, a scar of silver against the red and gray—but it’s a concerning variation in the pattern he’s been so quick to establish. It’s not difficult to envision Zagreus throwing himself against his challenge again and again with the wholehearted abandon he seems so fond of. It is understandable, that after so long kept apart from the rest of his family he is eager to make his escape and reach them.
Understandable, but perhaps not entirely sensible.

No, he still doesn’t understand Yurius. He doesn’t think he will ever be able to completely do so either.
However, this is the first time he could sense the extent of emotional turmoil Yurius has gone through. All his pain and burdens that he had kept hidden from Albert. Everything-- how he was the king’s illegitimate son, which was part of why the two always butted heads. The betrayal Yurius felt when he realized the king cared more about Albert than him and when Albert seemed in that moment to care more about the kingdom than his friend.
Yurius’s desire to atone for what he’s done, and at the same time, his gratitude toward Albert for saving him time and time again.

An ever-so-slight lean into Galo’s side when they’re standing next to each other, looking at the chore assignments for the week in the Burning Rescue headquarters. The barest brush of cold fingertips against a bright orange jacket hem. Sitting a little closer than usual on the couch in the rec room. Resting on Galo’s back a little more than necessary when Galo gives him a ride on the back of his motorcycle after work.
Lio is always freezing. Galo is always warm. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the rest.
