Zoey stopped in her tracks, barely registering his soft-spoken, slightly husky voice calling out. She turned halfway to face him, watching as he adjusted his head slightly to face the floor and rub the back of his neck. Seeing him as he was now, it made her wonder if she had read him wrong before. That what she assumed was stoic indifference now looked an awful lot like nervousness.
Mystery could feel his insides shaking, knowing that his next words were a bad idea, but managed to find his courage. “We can hang out . . .”
