Summary
When Thanatos falls in love with the kingdom's trouble-making crown prince, he is not expecting it will amount to anything more than a passing infatuation. He is also not expecting to be made the prince's bodyguard, and he is certainly not expecting the prince will ever love him back.
Thanatos, it transpires, is wrong about many things.

Summary
Jaskier meets another bard who seems to be perfect for him in every way. Geralt doesn't like it.
“What surprises me,” Jaskier continued, “is that there’s a musician of such skill and I’ve never heard of him. He wasn’t at Oxenfurt, doesn’t compete in the tournaments and big festivals, has no reputation whatsoever. He knew all my songs but had none of his own to play. With talent like that – not to mention a face like that – he’d be a sensation. Melitele, Geralt, is this what envy feels like?”
I don’t know, Geralt thought. I’ve never been envious. Have I?

Summary
I know exactly how it would have been. You and Auguste would have been slapping each other on the back and watching tournaments, and I would have been trailing around tugging at your sleeve, trying to get a look in edgewise.
At fourteen, Laurent is precocious, idealistic, and a little starstruck by the visiting Akielon prince. Damen does not have much experience with young princes who won’t leave him alone.

Summary
Laurent gestured subtly, towards the other end of the ballroom where a group of men were talking amiably. “Him,” Laurent said.
Auguste looked. “What about him?”
“I’m going to court him.”
There was a long pause. “That’s King Damianos of Akielos.”
“Okay,” Laurent replied.

Summary
The thing about Damianos Akielos is that he is a Hot Commodity. There’s probably a 30 page waiting list out there of people who want a chance to date him. The only problem is that since the age of fourteen, he’s never been single for more than a week. A week!
“He sounds great,” the bartender says, polishing a glass. Laurent realises that he’s been speaking out loud. He is drunk. He also realises that this bartender - Rick, or Mick, or Mike, or whatever his nametag says, words are a little blurry at this point - doesn’t realise the magnitude of the situation at hand.
Damen Akielos is Single, Facebook says.
“He’s single,” Laurent says.

Set directly after the end of Kings Rising (and I mean, directly). Self indulgent amnesia au where Damen doesn't remember any of the events of the books, and how Laurent, Nikandros and Jord deal with it, and pressing matters like who, exactly, is on latrine duty this week?

Bookmarker's Notes
I think whumps just aren't for me, I get bored of them so quickly, I loved the first one, I really liked the concept of cat witcher!Jaskier and how it was handled and the reveal to everyone but the second one had me so excited when it was just a lot of torture and idk that was kinda boring :< My favourite fics of these two involve them bantering and being stifly affectionate on Geralt's part and overly affectionate /pos on Jaskier's part

Summary
So,” Jaskier begins, as casually as he can, “you are telling me, that in theory, if I were to be in love with someone — anyone — that person could well be in terrible danger?”
---
Of all terrible and ridiculous things that have threatened Geralt’s safety, Jaskier’d never thought that loving him might be what will get him killed.

Summary
“It looks like a flower,” Jaskier says, amazed by it. He’s always loved finding his lover’s soulmarks, tracing the outlines of them, imagining them on his heel.
“Looks like an onion to me.”
OR
Jaskier’s soulmark was removed at birth. Geralt’s soulmark shouldn’t exist. When Jaskier discovers his witcher hasn’t found his soulmate yet, he makes it his personal mission to find Geralt’s Destiny-ordained beloved.

Summary
Jaskier walks out from Posada expecting a month or two of high adventure. But a great deal of the life of an itinerant witcher is very similar to the life of a travelling bard: dusty, slow going, and unlikely to arrive anywhere good on any kind of a schedule. Maybe unlikely to ever arrive anywhere good, at all. Moreover, Geralt is never actually going to tell Jaskier when something exciting does turn up. Jaskier's coming to grips with it.
He's coming to grips, also, with the fact that while Geralt might be worth the wait--and the sprained ankles, and the boredom, and maybe even the curses and the very dark nights and the bloodstains on Jaskier's best doublet--Geralt is probably never going to wait for him. This is the part that's a difficult fit for a ballad.

Summary
A stubborn lock of hair gets tucked behind Malfoy's ear twenty-six times. Harry only counts because what else has he got to do.
Homework, Hermione's shrill voice sounds in his head. Oh, Harry, you have so much homework, you're behind on everything, what are you doing? Did you really come back for eighth year just to spy on Draco Malfoy again?
It's a good question. Twenty-seven, now.

Summary
Geralt remembered a fight, years before, when his leg had been broken. The bone had broken in two places; his knee had shattered. The pain had lasted for days. That had been nine – ten years ago. The bard had been a child then. A tiny child, unable to walk, unable to think from pain. Because of him. It was hard to breathe. When he thought about it too much, it got hard to breathe.
Jaskier has always known he has a soulmate; a soulmate who is in pain a frankly concerning amount of the time. Geralt isn't sure if he believes that old superstition that witchers have no soulmates, but he knows he isn't bonded to anyone. He is alone, and he likes it that way.
Or, soulmates feel each other's pain and Jaskier is not having a good time.

Summary
The point is, they'd better not. It wouldn't work. And when Jaskier tries something, because he's definitely going to, it'll be up to Geralt to make the right decision and save them both the trouble.
Better that things should go on as they are. Better than sating Jaskier's whims and having it all fall apart after.
This once, perhaps, there's a lesser evil after all. And Geralt will choose it and gladly.
(Or: Jaskier starts hitting on Geralt all the time. Geralt ignores it, because that's obviously the only reasonable thing to do. Except, sooner or later, he isn't going to be able to anymore.)

Summary
Before Geralt's threats can go any farther, Jaskier clears his throat, intentionally loud, the way he does when he wants attention from someone, usually Geralt. He tips up his head, flicking a stray leaf from his hair. The tremors are gone. There’s something hard in his expression that wasn’t there before. Gracefully, he rises to his feet.
“Well,” he says. “Guess that’s that, then.” Even in his bedclothes, with blood on his neck, he commands the bandits’ attention like they are his audience. With a flourish, he bows. “Jaskier the Bard, at your service.”
When Geralt and Jaskier are caught off guard one night by a group of bandits, Jaskier has to use some unorthodox tactics to save them both. Geralt catches on - eventually.

Summary
The Witcher has pitched his tent in the farthest corner of the camp, barely even inside the clearing they’d decided to use as a resting spot for the night anymore. Mother says it’s because Witchers are protectors, that it’s in their nature to put themselves between the monsters of the world and everyone else.
Romriel isn’t convinced.
Or; 5 times seeing the good in Geralt makes someone change their mind about Witchers + 1 the time the wrong people mistake Geralt's human side for a weakness.

Summary
At the fourth stumble of the morning, Geralt’s patience breaks. Fine, the little fool is too stubborn to see he should leave and get it over with. Geralt will do the hard work for him, will simply move so fast that the bard has no choice but to end this farce already. He shifts his posture, squeezing Roach gently with his legs to urge her on faster-
-and nearly goes flying purely out of surprise when she gives him a warning buck, a single crow hop before she settles again.
