The moon deity raises one eyebrow. “And that shall be?”

There is an unspoken reason why ocean tides are the strongest during nighttime, especially on full and new moons. Yeonjun only learns about that eons in his existence, after an accidental first meeting with the Moon Deity, Soobin.

“You are right. I cannot live with your blood in my hands,” Soobin admits against his lips, simmering down his power until Yeonjun no longer feels his skin melting over his bones.
“Rather than living with my blood in your hands, you can live with me instead,” Yeonjun promises, with a tinge of desperation in his voice.
Soobin is the Sun God and Yeonjun is only a mortal. A single sunset is all they can have in the vastness of Soobin's existence and Yeonjun's fickle mortality, along with greediness and denial. Soobin and Yeonjun are in love, but are not meant to be together

Yeonjun huffs out a light laugh, playing with Soobin’s red ears. “You know, I never imagined I’d see your name in the list.”
“Oh,” he lets out, a weak sound that wouldn’t be easy to capture if it wasn’t for the silence in the cave.
“Yeah,” Yeonjun hums, fingers brushing over the nape of Soobin’s neck, tugging lightly at the damp hair there. “As soon as I saw your name there, I rushed to let your parents know that I wanted you to be my partner in my next season.”
Yeonjun never spends mating season with someone, everyone in their village knows that. Soobin can't hide his surprise when as soon as he volunteers for helping dragons in their mating season, Yeonjun calls for him before anyone else can

Summary
“Soobin, I love you,” he whispers, broken and weak, something that could be taken away by the wind and forgotten forever. Yeonjun looks at Soobin through tear-brimmed eyes, pleading for the younger to not leave him, to try again, to love him back. Soobin is too tired to pay attention to all the messages those eyes want to convey. “Please, don’t do this to me. I love you so much, Bin-ah.”
“Maybe you do love me, and I don’t doubt that. But we both know that you’re never going to choose me, you never did it before and you’re not doing it now,” Soobin says, the lump in his throat making every word hurt as he professes them weakly. “Let me go, please. That’s all I ask.”
Three years in a secret relationship with Choi Yeonjun, Soobin finally decides to stop breaking his heart and leave that behind. Yeonjun is going to get married to someone else and Soobin doesn't want to stick around to watch the love of his life belonging to someone else.
