Summary
In recent years all he’d wanted was for Vox to be quiet, but now it’s the silence that’s too damnably loud; he sets some music playing with an irritable flick of his fingers and remembers Vox in the sixties, humming and tapping his foot compulsively to this very piece. Everything in Alastor is tense, painfully taut with the onslaught of memories of how things used to be. He grinds his teeth and claws at his hair as he staggers to his feet, pacing the small circuit of his tower even as his gaze always finds its way back to Vox. Time is an abstract thing; it might be minutes, hours, or perhaps even days. Does it matter? Vox was never a patient man, even in the beginning. Always chasing progress and innovation, more territory, more viewers, more profits. He’s patient now, though, waiting silently for Alastor to get his fucking act together. The same song is still playing, over and over and over on repeat.
Alastor has never been very good at letting go of the past.
