    Summary

The Lady of Rattay, and a girl who had once laughed in Skalitz.

What does the story look like when Hans and Henry are women, born into a world where they are not free to live, or to love, as men are?

    Summary

The sun was Hans' first lover, before any girl and long before Henry. Henry doesn't mind being second to that, because the sun left its kisses behind, in the freckles that dot Hans all over his back, clustered on the tops of his shoulders and arms, whispers of faded sunburns and brief boyhood escapes. Henry can't know every story, but he wants to ask, to try and hold all of them; he can't kiss every freckle, but he can try that, too.

    -

Hans has a bad morning and Henry does his best to cheer him up, and drowns in his lover's body in the process.

    Summary

He walks directly to his lord’s chambers, with an undercurrent of anxiety pricking his skin; it's not fear, precisely, and it's not anticipation. It’s not even, wholly, the hunter and the hunted. Beyond any of that – perhaps most of all – Henry feels a stumbling, almost boyish shyness, as if a lad from the stable has lent him his own untried heart.

    -

Hans puts on a dress and torments Henry. Then, Henry puts on a dress, and Hans torments him again. Everyone has baby fever.

    Summary

When Henry swings off of Pebbles in the courtyard of Pirkstein, dusty with travel and tired from the road, it is not his lord, or even his lady, who greets him first.

“Hal!” Heinrich, his little child-voice high and excitable, outruns his nurse as he dashes to Henry. “Hal, Hal, Hal!”

Alternate title: A Day In The Life of Uncle Hal

A little snapshot into how Henry navigates his life, Hans’s marriage, and most of all, Hans’s little boy.

    Summary

All of the kills Hans makes, hare or hound or man, are clean. Pulling the arrow out had been the horror. It had been unnatural, and Hans had been a thief, to steal such a good death away. The Hound had made a sound like a stuck pig when Hans had pulled the arrow loose, but it had been nothing to how Hans had felt doing it.

The scene we didn't see. Takes place during Chapter 2 of The Hawk and The Hound, when Hans begins his fixation.

    Summary

Henry playfully wrestles him to the ground, and their laughter shakes the trees. This is what life ought to be: easy and sweet and without any past or future. The rest of the world can hang for all Hans cares; all he wants is to make Henry laugh, and to turn him every shade of red possible.

“Shut up or I'll fill you up,” Henry threatens. “I’ll get a strong son on you.”

Something flutters in Hans’s chest. “I'm not a fucking maid, Henry.” He struggles a little more, just for show, and Henry pins his hands above his head.

“Could be,” Henry counters, grinning. “My maid, my girl, the way you take me.”

    Summary

Henry opens his mouth and lets Hans press his thumb inside. Hans feels a giddy spool of desire curling in his gut, and…fine. Fuck it. Hans barrels into it. “I want to fuck you and touch you and – and see how much you can take, and how much I can give you. I want you to forget everything but me, and I don’t want you to come until I decide you can.”

    Summary

Lord Capon is ten, and sulking. He's dressed in fine clothing and is scrubbed clean, plump and shining like a newly minted coin. But he has a haughty little turn to his head and a lazy, cruel look in his bright blue eyes. They’re the eyes of a boy who has never been hungry and who is often bored.

Henry is still raw with grief from the death of his parents, and it makes him flinching and spiteful. He takes one look at Capon and wants to claw those blue eyes out.

    -

Henry is orphaned young, and becomes Lord Hans Capon's childhood companion. As they grow, they become everything to each other, to their joy, and to their sorrow.
