Post-NIHT. This story has been bugging me ever since Mulder was abducted and Doggett arrived on the scene. Skinner has been acting a bit peculiar and worn out since he lost Mulder, but he's starting to snap out of it (rejoice!). This is just one possible explanation why. Hope you like it.

Skinner remembered how it was that Doggett used to ask him out, before. Before it all went truly crazy. Yes, those were the exact words. Skinner pulled them from out of memory. He hoped that Doggett would remember them as well. "So, do you have plans?"
"No, not anything important. Can you make me a better offer?" Doggett did remember. That had always been Skinner's response.
