Their kiss is warm. Tentative. Breathtaking. Romantic, despite the glow around them bleeding over from the literal disaster fires of Stark Expo.
He asks before he takes another. Tony Stark doesn’t ask for what he wants often, but this kiss, her…she thinks it may be the first thing he’s wanted to do right for quite a long time. And she’s glad that he waited until he was ready. Glad that she kept her feelings held back for so long, until she was.
Before, she might have felt guilty, but now…she wants him. She’s okay with wanting her ex-boss, with wanting every complicated, messy thing that Tony Stark is. Wherever that want leads them, whatever it ends up meaning.

“‘Course I do,” Peter smiled. “I like everything you do.”
“That was disgusting,” MJ scoffed, pushing Peter’s hand off her hip and turning around. “I can’t be seen with you anymore.”
“You like it,” Peter called after her, laughing. “You like me!”
“See you in class, loser!” MJ yelled over her shoulder, sticking up her middle finger.
Peter’s eyes trailed after her, and he sighed dreamily.
“Dude,” Ned deadpanned from behind him. “You are so whipped.”

Their banter is so achingly familiar, but Tony can’t quite pin down why. It reminds him of that time he was testing out new flight suits and fell off a third-floor balcony. He and Pepper had only been dating for a few months, and the two were unfamiliar with the push and pull of a relationship when one of you was a superhero.
The realization hits him like a truck.
Holy shit, Tony thinks. They’re dating.

“I know,” she answers, squeezing his hand where it rests over the cupholder between them.
Looking out the window, what she thinks to herself is: do you mean that much to him?
Maybe it’s overprotective or presumptuous of her—she’s only known Peter well for a couple of years and has been dating him for less than one.
It’s just—in all that time, in all of the stories of his alter-ego’s exploits that he’s finally shared…she just can’t see how the universe-saving multibillionaire fits into all of this.
MJ joins Peter for a Thanksgiving visit to the Starks’ lake house. It turns out that even after years of quiet observation and a few months of dating, there are still things about Peter Parker and his life that manage to surprise her.
