   Summary

   In the year 17776, Nine became capable of quantum communication--years after his companions Ten and Juice.

   But it wasn't the first time--even though he doesn't remember being "awake" before. It was 15500, an otherwise unremarkable year.

   or, pre-canon 17776 where we explore the idea of love (?) between two space probes, and why it was forgone so that they could have a do-over a couple thousand years later. written like a declassified nasa document because i'm pretentious.
