“Kenny,” Tolkien says, because Craig is still clamping his jaw shut. He’s pretty sure if he opens it to say anything, he’s going to start screaming. Or crying. Or both. “Can we be serious, please?”
“Tolkien, you’re telling me that our dear friend here has been having gruesome visions for the better part of a month that are so vivid he’s begun to mistake them for reality.” Kenny props himself up against the kitchen island, looking somber all of a sudden. “That is my serious response.”

Summary
When Stan’s eyes focus again, it’s because Kenny is pulling him to his feet. Stan dares to peek in the direction of the grave, fearing something unspoken, but there’s nothing there. It’s been packed fresh, as flat as Kenny could possibly make it. There’s supposed to be rainfall tonight, which means the mound of dirt will sink, and everyone will be none the wiser. Kenny’s perfect plan. Stan stumbles beside him in the stillness, and for one long moment, he feels akin to the dead surrounding them.
A third body along for the ride.

Summary
Stan had of course agreed to it, missing the obvious overtures Kenny had been making for him and Kyle to reconcile. Or maybe he did see it, and was banking on Kyle finally backing down and returning to the status quo without needing an apology.
That would not happen. Kyle was sure he could go on living without food or sleep as long as he had his volatile emotions to nourish himself. He threw his head like an annoyed horse as Kenny put his hands up in surrender.
