Summary
When you kissed your groom, you imagined it was a different man. You imagined black hair instead of blonde, dark eyes instead of Sam’s light ones. For a split second during the kiss, you opened your eyes to look at the man you really wanted to be kissing, and you were surprised to find him looking right back at you. You gasped through your nose and your eyes widened at the eye contact. You closed your eyes and he looked away after just a moment, but the damage was done. All of the changes that Sebastian had noticed—the smaller mannerisms you got rid of to compliment Sam, and the larger things you changed, like your laugh—fell right into place. You were playing the same game he was. Even now, the two of you were playing games together.
In that moment, while you walked back down the aisle with your husband, and turned once to look at his best man, Sebastian decided he wasn’t ashamed of his jealousy anymore. He wasn’t scared or shocked. He was right, and you were in a marriage that was wrong.

When Lucretia set up new homes for each member of her family, she had to be sure that they would be able to fit in. She had to keep them safe, to make sure nothing ruined these lives for them.
