I remember that night perfectly. I was high out of my mind and sweating cold.
The music was bursting through my eardrums and the whole place smelled like weed and cheap tequila.
I like to think about the way Brendon looked at me that night—he looked so good, pupils blown wide, sweat dripping down his face. We stayed together almost the whole night. I remember his warm body close to mine, the way he whispered in my ear.
Even though things had always been complicated between us, it got worse after the accident.
This was no accident, this was a therapeutic chain of events.
