Just before he could finally leave the Vollachian Empire and return to Lugunica, Natsuki Subaru finds himself faced with a certain phenomenon. This time however, he's not on his own, as he soon comes to realize.
A reverse isekai fic diverging from the canon at the beginning of Arc 9. My first fic! After catching up with the Web Novel and reading numerous Re:Zero fan works, I've realized how much I enjoy reading about the characters and their interactions. Hence, here's my own take on a setting I've greatly enjoyed reading.
This will be a slow-build and slow-burn fic, with a primary focus on character interactions and their relationships. I'd hope that my style of writing will invoke feelings similar to reading the WN in terms of character presentation and dialogue/internal monologue being the focal points. I'm writing the characters how I've enjoyed reading about them in the WN, so I'm aiming to be highly faithful to their anime/WN (I know WN technically isn't canon) counterparts.
Fluff/slice-of-life for the most part, but it's still a Re:Zero fan work: expect some angst, trauma, and more. But don't worry, as catharsis after all the suffering is guaranteed! There's a plot, too.

When Subaru’s name is eaten by gluttony, he announces himself as “the half elf’s best knight” and attempted to explain their history together.
Knights with foul personalities nearby heard this, and were enraged about how this snotty kid was taking advantage of the Priestella attack, and made bogus claims about defeating archbishops and great mabeasts. Seeing his pompous attitude seriously pissed those knights off. “Who does this kid think he is? What’s that? He has miasma on him strong enough to make the Great Spirit pass out? Oh, this is going to be GOOD.”
Basically my attempt at an in character Re:forgotten story that DOESNT make everyone horrendously out of character, and begins once Subaru’s name returns, focusing on recovering, and mending past relationships

It has been a year since the events of the Sanctuary.
The Emilia Camp is thriving like never before. With the bonds among its members stronger than ever and the Royal Selection candidate making steady progress, Subaru Natsuki is finally beginning to feel worthy of the knightly title of the half-elf he loves. Exactly one month remains before the invitation from Anastasia Hoshin arrives—the trigger that will lead them toward the Water Gate City of Priestella.
However, events and occurrences will be transferred into this main timeline.
The boundaries between time, space, and possibilities have begun to merge. Those worlds born from decisions Subaru should never have made are manifesting in the main timeline. Fragments of alternate realities are becoming tangible, dragging along distorted versions of himself: different Subaru Natsukis as well as their own friends, variants, and anomalies.
The What Ifs are real. And they do not come alone.
Each brings along their own Witch Factors, their own stories... and their own version of Return by Death.
