Wei Wuxian had played out the reveal scenario in his head many, many times, often while finishing his charting at the end of a long shift; the scene would be set with the lights in the kitchen flicked off, only a soft glow coming from the candles atop his pristine and beautiful cake, towering proudly on the center of the table. Wei Wuxian would be standing behind it, wearing only a chef’s apron and a smile.
Lan Wangji’s gaze would be drawn to the cake first, naturally, before landing on him, at which point his jaw would drop, eyes widening in surprise. Wei Wuxian would bend down toward the cake, apron gaping, tits out and ass out, as he offered a wink and said, “Happy Birthday, sweetheart. See anything you like?”

Wayward hairs fell across Lan Wangji’s eyes as he turned his head to gaze at him imploringly, hand raised and long fingers pointed silently toward the sink, looking for all the world like a child ghost in a horror movie.
“It’s...the sink compactor,” he declared sullenly.
The corner of Wei Wuxian’s mouth twitched. “Babe...you mean the garbage disposal?”
That earned him a blank stare in response. Wei Wuxian rolled with it, approaching from behind to peer over Lan Wangji’s shoulder.
The sink was half filled with murky water, a scattered assortment of herb leaves and vegetable shavings floating across the surface.
“Now, see, this is why I don’t bother cooking,” Wei Wuxian declared with a huff, resting one hand against the warmth of Lan Wangji’s back while he gestured at the mess with the other. “Look what happens! Safer to order out."
