Carlos lifted his head from the phone screen he had been staring at blankly for a while to ask the man sitting across from him something that had just come to his mind. Charles had fallen asleep. Of course he had. When they decided to return from Belgium on the same plane, Carlos had predicted this would happen. Charles had a superpower of being able to sleep anywhere, anytime. Charles was the sleepiest person Carlos had ever seen. And Charles was the most beautiful sleeping person Carlos has ever seen.
Carlos tilted his head slightly and fixed his eyes on him. This had been one of his favorite views to watch for a very long time.or
Carlos watches a sleeping Charles and silently mourns and getting lost in his thoughts.

Carlos steps back toward the living room, trips, and falls onto the couch. He tries to hold on to Charles, but Charles is so close, he loses his balance, and falls right on top of him. And he can't help but kiss Carlos.

“You don’t understand,” Carlos said, his voice lower now, almost pained. “I want to kiss you and if I kiss you today I’ll want to kiss you tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that. There’s no middle ground with you Charles —no gray area. It’s all or nothing. If I kiss you today, I won’t be able to stop.” His throat worked around the words, as though saying them aloud made them heavier. “That’s - thats why you have to go.”

Summary
Charles can’t stop thinking about Carlos, cant move on. Every photo, every moment pulling him back into a past he’s trying to escape. While Carlos shines in the spotlight of a new stage, Charles is stuck chasing shadows and unanswered feelings. The scar under Carlos’s eye becomes a symbol of everything Charles longs for but can no longer have.
