“Fate etched your demise in the fabric of eternity itself,” Rio says, sweeping her arms open; spiders skitter from the dark creases of her cloak. “It was written eons before your birth. Now – the time has come to – ”
“The end is nigh, sinner!” says a familiar voice behind her. “It is I, Lady Death! Ooga booga!”
If Rio had eyes right now, they’d be twitching. Slowly, she turns to take in the unwelcome (if increasingly-frequent) sight: Agatha, holding a Ghostface Halloween mask over her ghostly face. Draped over her head in a paltry imitation of Rio’s cloak is a sequined black shawl – Billy’s, Rio guesses. She knows that the kid’s been trying his hand at drag recently.
“Oh, this is so embarrassing,” Agatha says, flicking a finger in Rio’s direction. “One of us is gonna have to change.”

Just when a ghostly Agatha decides she's ready to give into Rio's centuries-long pursuit, Rio swears that she's finally done with the pursuing.

She had had this dream before. This nightmare.

She was nudged forcefully in her shoulder.
That was new.
That was touch. Touch was physical. Touch wasn't possible.
Agatha pressed her fingertips down. As they pushed into the softness of the mattress, she frowned, she was in her bed. In the same bed she had been in in Westview. How could she forget the lumpy mattress?
"Mama."
There was that impatient replica again. Agatha squinted her eyes open, keeping them narrow in case it was a trick. But no. It wasn't a trick. Stood in front of her, with a mop of brown hair falling over his little forehead was her son. Her boy. Her baby.

Summary
Agatha should know better.
It’s generally frowned upon to invite strange women to your home, especially somebody with magic so potent that the air around her seems like an accessory to her outfit. The witch before her wears the space around her the way others would a cloak. She couldn’t pretend to be human if she tried. It crackles, a thunderstorm, and Agatha would be lying if she said she didn’t want to bottle the lightning.
(Or, the four times Agatha has Rio in her home and the one time that Rio welcomes Agatha into hers.)

Summary
After Halloween, she doesn’t think about that night too often. It was fun; now it’s over. They didn’t exchange phone numbers or anything of the sort.
As a matter of fact, she doesn’t remember saying goodbye to Rio at all, or how she got home. She woke up in her own bed the next morning, and that was it.
She doesn’t dwell on it. She doesn’t particularly like to dwell on anything.
Until eight weeks later, when she’s sitting in her bathroom, clutching a pregnancy test.
A positive pregnancy test.
