In another universe this is funny. In another universe where Kara didn't fuck up, didn't lie. In another universe Lena smiles as she asks this, and Kara smiles right back.
In this one, however, in this universe, Kara doesn't feel like smiling. In this one snow is silently falling onto her already soaked clothes and wind is tousling her hair in an unruly manner and Lena's tired eyes scream at her to just leave.
Or, Kara tries to make things right but they get snowed in, and then make things right.

Lena closes her eyes and lets out a long breath. Forcefully she gulps down any mean spirited words, in favor of her own sanity. Her hands are still trembling. She nods. “Okay.”
“And tomorrow - tomorrow you can go back to hating me, if you want.”
Lena intends to.
Or, After finding out that Kara is Supergirl, Lena wants to hate her. She really does. But Kara is also the only one Lena's got left, and a late night meeting turns from spending comfort to desperate love-making.

She forces the words out of her mouth before she can think of the certain humiliation that will come with her question. They don’t know each other, the encounters they’ve assembled together are countable on two hands, the times they’ve actually talked to each other on one. It’s foolish to even entertain the thought, foolish to think of Mike’s priceless face when he hears about this, hears about Kara saying yes - because she most certainly won’t.
“You could stay with me, if you wanted to.”
Or, Lena invites her charming neighbour (that she totally does not have a crush on), Kara, to live with her while her apartment's being fixed. Lots of mutual pining and some smut ensues, but it's mostly just them being adorable.

She doesn’t need to answer Alex’s incoming phone call to know that it doesn’t matter how hard she tries. Because Lena is gone, and there’s nothing she can listen for now except silence.

Or; Whenever Kara feels lost, she listens to the one constant in her life, Lena's heartbeat. It's what she tries to do after every particularly rough day, but this time there is nothing. Nothing but silence where the steady beat of Lena's heart should be.

Summary
"What rumors?" Kara asks, fails miserably at trying to sound anywhere close to being calm and collected. She has worked with enough celebrities to know that rumors aren't something to put a lot of trust into, but there have been a lot about Lena Luthor in the past. And while she believes most of them to be born out of nowhere and to be utterly wrong, some others make her feel a certain kind of way. It's, again, embarrassing, how badly she wants some of them to be true.
"She might play a very significant role in some upcoming superhero movie." Kara doesn't understand the discrete subtext of the statement, Alex can tell, doesn't get what exactly she is trying to convey here. Alex regards her with a pointed eyebrow before she keeps talking, more intently this time. "She'll most likely have to hit the gym for that."
Or, Kara is a personal trainer. Lena is an actress who is required to buff up for a new role. When their paths cross and they end up working together, the mutual attraction is almost immediate.

Sam looks up from her phone, just long enough to regard Kara with a matching smile, then leans into her when the blonde proceeds to kiss her cheek. The rain is hitting the window with a lot more force now and Kara is certain she can even hear the thunder growl above them. Dangerously so.
"Keep texting her, will you?" Kara asks tentatively, her words nothing but a whisper against Sam's warm cheek. "I don't want her to be alone."
"I don't either."
Or; Lena is terribly scared of storms. Kara and Sam take it upon themselves to help their friend out. It's almost startling, how incredibly warm they all feel every time they end up falling asleep in each other's arms.

Lena knows that she would have been a lot more timid, her lips curved into a smile much more gentle if it hadn’t been for those few intimidating words in the script, the ones telling her just how sure she is in approaching the blonde sprawled out on the bed in front of her.
Or, Lena and Kara are actors who play a couple on screen. They're not supposed to actually fall for each other.

Summary
It’s a piece of red cape sticking out of Kara’s blue flannel and Lena suddenly feels stupid. Feels hurt, feels deceived.
Or, Lena finds out Kara is Supergirl, finds out that the only person she truly trusted has broken said trust. She turns to alcohol, locks herself in her apartment for days, perhaps even weeks, then deals with the aftermath. When Supergirl then gets hit by kryptonite in the process of saving her, Lena feels like she has to overthink her previous stance on the whole situation, finally stops blaming herself.

Summary
She’s sitting on a simple chair, stark naked, and Kara forgets how to breathe, just for a second. Maybe more than that, perhaps a few too many. She vaguely remembers their prof telling them about a model, but he has clearly left out some very important details. Like the fact that she’s an act model, or the fact that she’s incredibly stunning in a way that makes Kara’s heart stop momentarily, then speed up immensely right after.
Or, Kara is an art student in College/University and Lena is the stunning act model she immediately falls for
