Summary
“Maker’s fucking tits, Ashur,” Tarquin sighs. He glances down at the open notebook with its complicated web of connections. “So this is, what? Your notes about who’s banging who?”
Ashur winces. “Who’s in a relationship with whom,” he corrects.

Tarquin swore under his breath and scrubbed a hand over his face. Three months since the Viper—since Ashur—revealed his identity to him, and yet Tarquin was only just now realizing he had never learned how to spell his last name.

Summary
Modern/Mundane AU in which the Shadow Dragons are a volunteer lifeboat crew in the busy fishing village of Dock Town on the island state of Minrathous. Tarquin and Ashur are frequently thrown in life and death situations together and then go back to their day jobs like nothing happened. In real life, they’re a world apart – Ashur the local vicar and councillor and Tarquin a bitter ex-soldier pulling pints in a pub – but when they’re at sea, they’re equals.
When the crew lose a young life out at sea, Tarquin distances himself from the others, shouldering the blame for the kid’s death, but Ashur won’t let him carry the burden alone.

Summary
Tarquin can tell by his uncalloused hand he never knew long days of physical labor, never chopped logs for fire, did not have the rough ridges on his fingers or palm from the rub of a sword or bow string, repeated over and over thousands of times on his journey from boyhood to man. His hands are used to softer things, of silk and velvet and satin. Unworked and unblemished. It's almost startling.
The Viper lets go and reaches down for his coat and gloves and Tarquin wonders at the loss. His hand sits there in the air, just a moment too long, dazed at the loss of him and the implications of his delicate skin, before lowering it slowly back to his side.

Kiss Week Prompt Day 2: Tavern - Tashur
Fact was, Ashur hadn’t come around at all this week. Not even to steal an hour before dawn.
But it didn’t matter. Not like Tarquin had any idea what the Black Divine actually did all day, or what kind of business would have also kept him all night. Ashur never talked about the other half of his life.
Just. Tarquin hadn’t thought he would be a secret, too.
