Meters below, the waters of Omura Bay glimmer with reflected light from above. Next to them, a couple share a serving of ice cream. In front of them, amongst some flowers, a boy plays happily with a large, furry dog, lone strawberry lying abandoned on the paved floor. In the distance, clouds weave gracefully through the mountaintops, filtering light through.
Suna’s gaze lingers on the waterfront, catching sunlight on his cheekbones, in his eyes, and on the tip of his cupid’s bow. For a brief moment, Osamu contemplates if he should share his ice cream with him.

When Atsumu plans a non-refundable road trip and is unable to make it at the very last minute, Osamu has no choice but to carry on solo, or invite someone else to go along with him. So invite someone else he does. No prizes for guessing who that would be.

“Are you smelling me,” Osamu asks, because this is, well, kind of strange, and it sounds like Suna is sniffing him.
“Yes,” Suna says, and then he licks over the spot where he left an impression of his teeth a few days before. “You smell good.”
This is weird. Bizarre. Odd, even, but Suna is extraordinarily hot in the anemic sort of way and odd as it is, Osamu can’t say he’s against Suna smelling him. “This isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I said”—the words die in his throat as Suna drags his teeth over Osamu’s jaw—“when I said, uh, that I wanted to get to know you.”

Summary
They drive in silence after that, the sun sinking lower and lower down the West horizon. It washes the streets in shades of orange and pink. Suna hums to the songs, his shoulders slouched as usual but Osamu can see the strain in them. It takes everything in him not to reach out and touch them, maybe do something to ease the tension wound so tight in him. But he doesn’t; all he does is fist his hands in his lap and look out the window because even though they spend most of their days and nights together- be it in school or in this car or the arcade in the heart of the town- Osamu still doesn’t know how to touch Suna Rintarou in the dying light of the day when they are both stone cold sober and there’s a god awful love song playing in the background.
