There's this... silly muggle theory.
In any romantic relationship no matter how perfect or healthy, you only get eighty percent of what you want and need. The problem for some, is that when you do encounter that last twenty percent you're not getting; it becomes incredibly tempting and the unwise man may leave that eighty percent thinking they're about to get a hundred only to be left with twenty.
But sometimes, it can go the other way around. Sometimes you'll end up leaving twenty and end up with eighty.
In seventh year James left Severus for Lily.
Best choice he could have ever made. It never would have worked out. Besides, he and Lily are married now, she's pregnant with his soon to be child and Severus...
