Summary
When Sirius Black gets into a tragic accident on the set of a film he'd been working on, leaving his once perfect and elegant face scarred and ugly, he comes back to his hometown with his tail tucked between his legs. The thing is, he hasn't been back in a decade, and while he's still on good terms with his best friend James, he is terrified to face his ex-boyfriend, Remus Lupin.
It's been ten years since they last talked to each other, and they didn't exactly leave on good terms. Will Sirius be able to avoid him forever? What will Remus think of his new appearance? Will they ever be what they once were?

Sirius has made sure of that, keeping his mentally unwell brother far away from the object of his obsession. Funnily enough, it's James who comes to Regulus. Well-meaning, curious with no idea what he's getting into.
The lines between love and obsession are blurry and hard to read.
“No, we’re friends now, remember? I know it hasn’t been long, but I think I’m learning you, aren’t I?”

James had Regulus, but he didn’t know him. Regulus knew James but didn’t have him.
“Maybe you could,” was all Regulus could say in response. That was a truth. James could probably learn Regulus inside and out. Regulus would offer that if it didn’t mean breaking down the fixation—the rotting truth behind their growing relationship.

Summary
It’s too vulnerable a thought to speak aloud. That he’s wrong on a molecular level. Even the darkness blanketing them can’t hide how pathetic a statement it is. He turns his face into Remus’ chest, wishing to hide from it all. Wishing he could split open his ribcage and make a home there next to his beating heart. Maybe the even rhythm of it could teach him how to be right. Be good.
Remus is good. Sirius knows that much. He wants to live inside of him, be caged by his goodness, protected by it. It’s a selfish desire.
