Summary
Gale returns to Waterdeep, to the woman he barely knows but has been betrothed to for two decades, leaving behind a heartbroken Tav in Baldur's Gate.
----
The parchment is expensive. Tav runs her fingertips over the wax seal and hesitates; she knows what this is. She is not surprised that it is happening, she is, however, surprised at being included in some way. Perhaps, she allows herself, she had hoped it wouldn't be so soon. (She has already put to bed the part of herself that had hoped it would not happen at all.) Gale had, after all, been very clear - and devastatingly gentle - in his explanation.

Sleep does not come easily these days. Not that Tav isn’t tired; she is, desperately so. But, between the intrusive visitor in her dreams, the parasite threatening to end her life, and the handsome – not to mention extraordinarily chatty – wizard who won’t leave her thoughts, sleep has become a luxury she fears she may never fully enjoy again.

Summary
So, it is in the library that Gale now sits, listening with practiced indifference, to the back and forth between his mother and Tara; Tara demands that Gale be afforded time to rest following ‘his ordeal’, whereas his mother insists he is in dire need of companionship. Gale has no inclination towards either; his initial hope of the squabble running its course on its own, however, dwindles the longer it goes on. He supposes, after-all, that having had just over two tendays without such a conversation was more than he could have hoped for.
