Summary
Mydei is stuck in a strange state of existence. While most believe him an alpha due to his outward appearance and reputation as a fierce warrior, he has no secondary gender and a limited sense of smell.
Usually, he wouldn’t care and even prefers not having to deal with heats and ruts, but lately, being around Phainon has him feeling off-center. There’s a weird prickling sensation in his nape that won’t go away, and his entire body heats up at even the slightest provocation.
Is he, somehow, growing allergic to Phainon? Is that what this is?
Alternatively, Mydei presents as an omega because of one very oblivious Deliverer and has to deal with the consequences.

Summary
Mydei pays their bickering no mind. Instead, he turns to the rapidly approaching group of five and says, “My friends, I want you to meet them.”
Hephaestion. Perdikkas. Leonnius. Peucesta. Ptolemy.
Phainon greets them with a smile. Or tries to. He’s not sure it lands. He knows them. After all, he’s met them before, countless times actually—some rare cycles here and there where they didn’t meet their ends early.
They’re friendly if not wary. Pleasantries are exchanged, words of joyous occasion, but Phainon’s mind is elsewhere, off on a different plane of existence.
Because Mydei smells like them, and Phainon doesn’t like it.
Mydei returns from Castrum Kremnos smelling like foreign alpha. Phainon reacts.

Summary
Handsome, familiar features gaze back at him, and Mydei’s throat closes. He must be seeing things. There’s no way.
Phainon..?
This close, he’s inundated with the smell of flames, burning ashes and scorched, crackling earth. It's unfettered destruction with slight floral notes, reminiscent of a certain Deliverer.
His veil crumbles into dust right before his eyes.
“Mydei,” the entity whispers, deep and throaty like it’s his first spoken word in years, yet the voice remains recognizable. His golden gaze roams hot over Mydei’s silk covered figure, and Mydei fights the urge to cover himself from view. “It’s you…”
A new prophecy demands Mydei as sacrifice. Cyrene takes the chance to dress him up as a bride.

Summary
Tears cling to long lashes, illuminated by the bright lamplight. He’s about to push in all the way when he hears Mydei murmur, “Fuck me in your other form.”
It’s soft—almost unsure—but it’s enough to douse the flames in Phainon’s chest. He stills, his brilliant confidence fizzled out, the remaining embers of a once great wildfire. He had plans for the night, reuniting with his beautiful lover in the way they always do, in the form where he felt the most human—the most normal.
“A-Are you sure?” he asks, wincing at the way his voice stutters.
Mydei has seen him—the golden cracks, the ugliness, the hatred. Yet, even after everything, even after knowing the truth, he still chooses to stay by his side.
Phainon, ever the dutiful husband, worships his pregnant wife and learns what it means to love and be loved.

Summary
Phainon’s clothing had been going missing.
It started small: the extra undershirts he assumed were lost in the laundry, the cape for his coat nowhere to be found. Now his coat itself was missing, the one he’d already been using as a replacement for the other missing one.
Someone must’ve been behind it, yet who would bother with something so benign?

Summary
They’re deep in the ever night beyond Okhema when Mydei notices the subtle change in Phainon’s scent. Phainon has always smelled pleasant enough, aside from the disgusting musk that comes with him being another alpha, but now that musk is more pungent and the other notes more subdued.
“Deliverer,” Mydei says. Growls, really. He’s already annoyed. Phainon should’ve done this math before they left, and now they’re both about to be horribly inconvenienced. “Why are you going into rut?”
When Phainon's ruined suppressants cause him to go into rut unexpectedly, Mydei helps him through it.

“I see,” Phainon’s voice was quiet. “So you're leaving."
“Yes,” Mydei confirmed, “That’s the plan. But if something calls me to stay, I will. In a heartbeat,” he met Phainon's gaze, seeming almost hopeful, “Castrum Kremnos can wait. After all, it’s not going anywhere.”
Phainon only half-registered the words.
At the end of the road, Phainon receives news that Mydei is leaving Okhema for good just as a gift from the Trailblazers shows him a glimpse of his future.
It's not as bleak as he thought it'd be.

Mydei rolled his eyes. They continued watching the children play for a brief moment. Finally, he mused, "It's a bit weird though. Asteria had hair that was a lot lighter than mine. I can't recall my hair ever being that light."
"Well, yeah," Phainon said. "It makes sense. My Khaslana form has light blonde hair, too."
Mydei twisted in his seat to look up at him. "What? Why would she have hair like—"
He paused.
Come to think about it, he had never really figured out what happened that one night.
or: ten years after the fall of irontomb, mydei finds himself outnumbered by three white-haired, blue-eyed puppies. a drunken night hopefully fixes the problem (or does it...?)
