    Summary

Garcia knows Santos has been struggling with her second year of residency, the workload never letting up even months into it; and she’s all too aware of the tension with which Santos’s been carrying her body these past few months. As much as Garcia has been insisting that she take care of herself lest she risk burnout, Santos has quite the stubborn streak: it’s clear that she’s been running on fumes this past week, her body essentially comatose right now beside her. She regards Santos’s sleeping figure and resolves to wrest as much rest out of the following days as Santos will allow her to—and there’s no doubt she’ll be met with protest, albeit futile, at every effort.

Santos is a dense ball of tension as is, but Garcia wants to tease out any remaining coils of it that linger underneath, delicately working at them, dredging them up until she can eradicate the tension entirely.

“Who does she think she is?” Rio said, gesturing wildly. “Just got here and already acting like she owns the damn place!”

Alice looked around Rio, “Hot too,” Alice muttered.

Rio looked confused before turning around and glancing back at the house where Agatha had appeared in the window. A white fitted t-shirt was tucked into her high-waisted jeans. Her brown hair was wild, like she hadn’t even had a chance to run a brush through it before writing her lovely little hate note.

Agatha crossed her arms and gripped a mug of coffee as she continued her stare down with Rio, and Rio could swear she saw her lips quirk into a smirk.

Rio groaned. Environmentally friendly, bitchy, and hot. Extremely hot.

OR: Rio is a garbage collector, and Agatha Harkness just got added to her route. Shenanigans ensue.

In hindsight, Rio should have known that this was a very bad idea.

    --

What happens when two people that simply just tolerate each other for the sake of their friends are roommates in a vacation together?

It takes time, and it takes breaking through her emotional constipation, but Rio Vidal is wrong. It turns out to be the trip that she needed all along.

“And where would I do that, moron?”

“I don’t know!” Rio flounders, “In the shower?”

“You think getting myself off quietly in the shower, in the room next to your bedroom, having to be quick so the hot water doesn’t run out… is conducive to good orgasms?”

Well, when she puts it like that.

    OR

Rio and Agatha aren’t friends. They’ll probably never be friends—they’re just wired that way. But that doesn’t stop their mutual friends from suggesting Agatha live with Rio while her divorce finalizes. If it sounds like a recipe for disaster, it probably is.

“There’s an empty seat a few rows ahead, I’m sure you’d prefer it there,” Agatha says in a sugary tone, pointing a patronizing finger like she’s teaching a child their left from right.

The woman tilts her head. “You mean the one next to the lizard guy with the neck tattoo? That’s where you’d like me to sit?”

Yes, exactly. Agatha thinks, rather rudely.

“Yes, exactly!” she praises condescendingly. “I’m so glad we’re on the same page.”

The woman doesn’t budge. Even worse, she’s sporting an infuriating smirk, like she sees right through Agatha’s bravado and is waiting for it to crack.

Agatha closes her eyes. Is the universe out to get her this weekend? Has she not suffered enough aboard this sardine tin on wheels?

    -

OR: Agatha is alone on a train—a wildfire in her eyes, teeth bared in challenge.
Rio dares to sit beside her, warms her hands on the flames, unafraid of the sting.
