Summary
Before the victory of the allies, before the United States of America joined the war, before Lend-Lease, before everything — there were just two nations, two men, who just refused to meet halfway until it was forced upon them.

Bookmarker's Notes
This novel had a very believable perspective of Alfred, both as a nation and a sentient being. His thoughts and feelings are very human yet he is undeniably the embodiment of America. The same can be said for our beloved England, strong and gentle Arthur. As far as canonical US/UK goes, this is one of the very best. Definitely a must read if you're into this ship at all.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is absolutely perfect to read after the slow burn of "Lying in that sound, tonight". It's satisfying and indulgent, the best treat a US/UK fan could hope for.
I actually remember reading this delectably perfect piece in the kink meme way back then. As a returning fan it's awesome to see it here.

Summary
The one where Arthur tries his best to move on from Alfred, Francis meddles, Matthew watches from the sidelines, and Alfred finally gets a clue.
Of course, even once Arthur and Alfred overcome these minor hurdles, a relationship between nations - especially with all the history between them - isn't quite so easy.
(modern day canon!verse, using human names).

Bookmarker's Notes
This is a heartachingly cute series that captures America and England's relationship well without too much angst. It's fluffy, a bit sappy, and I absolutely can't get enough of it, there's just something about nations acting like lovesick puppies that is just irresistible.
I just love how adorably awkward both of them are in this universe. They are both romantics, but in different ways, like how England responded to America's fervent "I miss you" with a pointer to a John Donne poem.
US/UK romantic fluff at its best.

Summary
It’s Arthur, now, and it’s… complicated. Heart-joltingly, endearingly, never-gonna-trade-this-for-anything complicated, with so much history and the freaking Atlantic between them, and Alfred’s never done too well with separation once he’s latched onto something.
But with the both of them working towards each other, the distance between them doesn't seem so great anymore.

A.k.a the one with "P.S. I love you" and the world's most perfect sappy couple. Reading this takes a couple of hours every time because I keep stopping to grin like a loon and let my romanticism run amok.

Summary
Arthur didn’t think they could have something like this if Alfred had remained his after the Revolution, or if they hadn’t fought together during the second World War. And he wouldn’t trade Alfred for anyone else, not even the ones in his memories.
Shakespeare, and Arthur and Alfred's relationship throughout their history.

Bookmarker's Notes
I really like the theme of this story. That, as Alfred said, despite everything, him leaving, them at war, everyone at war, and the disasters and everything inbetween, they shall have each other and all shall be well. It's so sweet how Arthur would not trade having Alfred for anything, not even the pasts he dearly missed. I thought the idea of them together being one of the natural conclusions of any story really suits their relationship, and this story is a flawless execution of that idea.
