There’s nobody here, that Saihara can see. Either it was a cat, or Saihara’s been missing too much sleep. He lets out a quick, breathy exhalation, and then shakes his head, turning to leave.
A large, rough hand grabs Saihara by the shoulder of his jacket and slams him into the wall, so hard that his head spins and dark spots dance before his eyes, and before he can come to his senses his arms are seized in a tight grip and pulled behind his back, that hand from before moving to rest between his shoulder blades, pressing him against the wall by his chest.
There must be two people behind him, because at the nape of his neck, Saihara feels something round, cool, and smooth pressed to his skin; the barrel of a gun.

Nothing makes sense anymore. Shuichi casts a sideways glance over at his best friend, takes in Kaito’s blank expression, his cold stare, his white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel. He hasn’t said anything since showing up on Shuichi’s doorstep last night, his hair tied out of his face and his car keys held in one hand. Even then, all he’d asked was that Shuichi go with him—and when Shuichi had responded, inquired as to Kaito’s destination, he’d hesitated, and Shuichi realised he didn’t know.
There was something thrilling about it at the time, about the notion of running away somewhere unknown with Kaito. That was probably why Shuichi said yes. Reality has begun to settle in, now, more than four hours later, but there are too many questions he could ask, too many things to discuss. He doesn’t know where he would start.
Which doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t, it’s just… hard.
