    Summary

It was a strange thing, forgetting that you love someone, in the same way you might forget your watch, or a doctor's appointment. His head hadn’t quite caught up, but his body remembered for him, aching like it had known for all forty-something years since. He swallowed, but his mouth was dry.

He looked at Armand, his shameful wide eyes staring at Daniel, waiting for him to speak.

“You let me get old,” he finally said, voice scratchy as it left his throat. “You let me get sick.”

    --

Daniel should be afraid when Louis leaves him alone with Armand, but something in his gut convinces him to stay.

“You were all I could think about, you know that?” Louis said, an ache coming low in his gut and a heat sweeping over his brow like a fever. Healing neck wound, Lestat’s hand resting easy against the small of his back. “Head on a skewer, losing myself, the girl in front of me with a blade to her wrist…”

Lestat said nothing, his heart knocking strong and sure in his chest. He leaned closer, resting his forehead against Louis’ as he spoke. Just… breathing him in.

“And it was only you. Like a fog hangin’ over me. Like…”

Or: Following the events of 3x07, Louis and Lestat run away together.

    “Where are you going?”

“To the arena, Hollander. We are playing a game in three hours.”

“That’s tomorrow, Rozanov,” Hollander says, smirking like Ilya might be fucking with him and he wants to make sure he’s in on the joke. He looks behind and around him. “Um, can I come inside?”

“Hollander, we have game today. You were here yesterday.”

Hollander is striding toward his kitchen, looking over his shoulder at Ilya like he’s getting tired of the joke. “Very funny. I was in Montreal yesterday, Rozanov.”

“Hollander.” Ilya goes to stand in front of him. Hollander’s eyes flicker up and down his body the way that Ilya usually craves, but is rather unwelcome right now. “Today is Thursday. Game is today. Yesterday, you came to my house. We ate tuna melts, watched Buffalo game. Then, you left.”

“Rozanov, it’s Wednesday morning. And I’ve never been to your house before.”

    “Hollander…”

“Look at your phone if you don’t believe me.”

Ilya snorts like a bull and pulls his phone out of his pocket, swipes down on the screen to look at the date.

    Wednesday, November 9th.

    Summary

Shrugging one shoulder far more casually than he possibly feels, Ilya says, “I like both. Is secret, okay?”

    “Okay,” Hollander says, voice cracking.

He doesn’t say anything else. The air’s so heavy around them that it feels like being in the middle of a scrum, the weight and heat of all those bodies pressing down on you. Danger always feels like hockey; it’s the most dangerous thing Ilya knows, except for this. Everything dangerous in his life involves men’s bodies and just how close he can get to them. Closer than he probably should.

A year after mysteriously dropping out of the 2009 draft, Shane Hollander is signed by the Boston Raiders, right behind Ilya Rozanov. Having the two biggest stars in the league on the same line is great for Boston — but playing alongside their worst rival was never exactly in Shane or Ilya's plans. Especially not when staying away from each other starts to feel just as impossible as getting along.
