Summary
"Xiao’s pupils are blown wide, his face thin and sickly pale, with sharp fangs peeking even behind closed lips. Aether has spent enough time with him to realize in an instant that Xiao hasn’t had any blood for at least a few days, and is absolutely starving.
Aether’s heart breaks a little at the sight, “Xiao, when was the last time you fed?”
Xiao shifts a little to try to face him properly, and his eyes fall shut again; every action seems to take so much of his energy, and all Aether wishes to do is help him in any way he can. A minute shake of Xiao’s head tells him all he needs to know."

Summary
After a chilling incident at his local salon, university student Aether transitions to the city salon. His effort is rewarded when he so happens to become a regular for one of the popular stylists, Xiao. Of course, this easy escape doesn't last too long for Aether, as his past would soon catch up to him.
That, and the envious gazes he'd get, as his stylist did his hair, was becoming hard to ignore.

/!\ SPOILERS FOR PERILOUS TRAIL'S QUEST
"Xiao, did you need to talk to me?" Aether asked, keeping his smile on for now, wanting to hear what the other had to say first, before saying anything.
"... So you noticed. Indeed, I do." At these words, Xiao turned around to face Aether, staring down at him, anger evident inside his eyes and face. "Why did you do this, knowing very well that you could have died, had your body not been strong enough to take on the damage?"
___
What if Aether had decided to stop Xiao from sacrificing himself, by taking his place and channeling his own energy in the compass?

Summary
The sleeve he wears on his left arm is traditional and decorative, that much is true. It does nothing to enhance his ability in combat, and means little to modern mortals except to remind them that Xiao is an ancient being who still, in some ways, lives firmly in the days of Liyue’s past. Still, it does serve another, much more personal, purpose.
It covers the many names that crawl up his arm, from the inside of his wrist to the crook of his elbow and higher still. Centuries’ worth of soulmates, written in tiny, neat letters across the canvas of his skin, only serve as reminders of the many hundreds of years he’s walked the surface of Teyvat.
In which Xiao has given up on soulmates, and Aether doesn't have one to begin with.
