Grian decides to fuck his teammates to get back at the Watchers during the games, there aren't really any consequences at first with no one but him remembering outside the game and no one remembering the games outside of them unless they win.
He just didn't want to get hurt again and feel like he was in control of something, though that backfired the further he got into it, affecting his behavior back on Hermitcraft as well.
