Summary
Geralt and Jaskier have successfully retrieved Ciri just in the nick of time, but now must travel to the safety of Kaer Morhen with her and Mousesack the druid while Nilfgaard is searching for them. Geralt's ability to turn into a wolf comes in handy, a mysteriously magical death unearths the beginning of a mystery he can't resist chasing, and he realizes that for Ciri's sake he must face the heretofore unaddressed relationship failings of his past.

Summary
The RK800-60 heard a noise above him and flinched as he realized the furniture he’d scrambled to lean up against was in fact a pair of legs, and looked up to see a large man in heavy black gear with SWAT emblazoned across the front staring back down at him with a stunned expression.
“It’s one of you, Connor. I thought you said you were a fancy one-of-a-kind prototype?” The SWAT officer said, looking over.
Connor was evidently the android in the very familiar looking jacket, though the damaged RK couldn’t personally say if their faces really did match. Connor’s gaze hardened as he got a good look at the trembling RK on the ground.
“I am.” he said, the gentle tone he’d used a second ago now gone. “This one is supposed to be dead.”

“Lieutenant Anderson had planned to get a traditional service dog replacement, but understands that it’s in the precinct’s best interests to match him up with a prototype android model instead of waiting.” Fowler says, presumably speaking to Dr. Soya, despite his glare drilling into Hank’s unbothered expression. “Lieutenant Anderson is extremely grateful for this opportunity.” Fowler follows up forcefully.
“What he said.” Hank growls back, folding his arms and forcing his gaze to finally drop to the thing sitting patiently at Dr. Soya’s feet.
Because it’s not really a dog quietly looking up at them with soft brown golden retriever eyes, it’s a fucking mobility aid with better than usual batteries.

Hank's mental health struggles means he needs a professionally trained service dog, but when his last one passes away he's unwillingly paired with a fake android replacement. He's not sure what outcome is more likely; that he'll successfully off himself before the android can catch him, that the robotic imposter will get him hauled away and locked up for being a danger to himself, or that just maybe that he can convince Fowler he's healthy enough not to need a fake dog at all.
