After the Interdarshan Championship, Kaveh began to notice little things. Like when Alhaitham would pay off his tab at Lambad's with minimal complaint, or when Alhaitham would leave a plate of snacks out for him after a night of hard work. He had struggled since their fall-out several years ago with thanking Alhaitham for anything, but it wouldn't hurt to start making an effort, right?

Aomine’s towering over him, distinctive hair - hair that has women hooking in navy hairnets and other similarly cheaply dyed hairpieces - on proud display, helmet long since thrown to the sand, lying next to Kuroko’s abandoned net. His sword is gripped tightly in his right hand, and his chest rises and falls like clockwork. He’s clearly not even winded, not the way Kuroko is - not like Kuroko, who can’t stop the wheezing gasps from rattling out of the aching dryness of his throat.
Hardly surprising. He’d always known this would be the outcome.

Summary
After the first day of the Interdarshan Championship, Kaveh asks Alhaitham to praise him during sex—because although the two of them disdain each other, they somehow keep ending up in bed together.
“Strong,” Alhaitham murmurs, kissing from Kaveh’s thigh to his hip. “Resolute.”
Stop, Kaveh wants to say. You’re wrong, you’re lying, you’re cruel.
But he asked for this. He asked Alhaitham to take him to bed and praise him, to make him feel like he’s not a complete failure.
Alhaitham knows that Kaveh is none of the words leaving his mouth. Kaveh is neither strong nor resolute, and he is certainly not enough.
But Alhaitham is a linguist. And that means he’s good with words, Kaveh supposes—even when he doesn’t mean them.
