“Do you really think he would believe us if we showed up at the festival as boyfriends?” Jisoo queried, frowning as he moved around in his little kitchenette. Curled up pathetically on the floor beside the trash bin, the only spot where he was allowed to sit, Jeonghan sulked. “Not only are we both bottoms, we’re also the pettiest people on this planet. Even he would know our relationship won’t work for… how long did you say you were off the market again?”
“Two,” he whispered, avoiding Jisoo’s burning glare.
“Two months?” Jisoo queried, his tone laced with disbelief.
“No,” he breathed out, picking at his hang nails and grimacing when his best friend asked if he said two weeks. “I actually said two years. Have some faith in us, Jisoo!”
“We’re going to hire a boyfriend for rent as anyone would do in this kind of situation.”
In which Jeonghan bumps into a former suitor, lies that he has a boyfriend, gets invited to a double date, accidentally adopts a dog, hires a very familiar boy for rent named Seungcheol, yearns, and gets his happy ending in one day.

“All I’m saying is that people tend to bring someone permanent in events like these,” Mingyu supplied, putting his hands up in defense. “You know how much Jun regretted bringing his boyfriend the other year. He had to pay people to edit the man out of the pictures. When the time comes that—”
“It’s never going to come,” he said, not even entertaining the thought because he couldn’t and he refused to allow himself to drown in its possibility. “I get that you’re all looking out for me, but have some faith in our relationship.”
“I hear you,” Mingyu expressed, reaching out to squeeze his hand apologetically. “But can Jeonghan even sit that close to Kkuma without getting bitten? Last I checked, she’s still angry from being dognapped by him.”
In which Seungcheol is already hopelessly in love with Jeonghan, but Jeonghan insists on making it worse by giving him even more reasons to be.
