Summary
AU. Despite being born a prince, Yoongi’s own family treats him with suspicion and fear since his birth corresponds with a bad omen in the kingdom’s prophecies, as if his very existence threatens the peace and abundance of their land. At first, he tries to dispel this unease by proving himself competent and loyal to the king’s cause, but this only makes them believe he’s amassing power to take over the kingdom. Urged by the court, Yoongi’s father keeps him occupied in the borderlands, always fighting and spying on foreign enemies.
On one such mission, he takes a hit to protect one of his men, but ends up lost in hostile land when he urges his subordinates to retreat to safety. He’s nursed from the brink of death by Seokjin, a kind if eccentric healer’s apprentice. Seokjin becomes the first person who gets to know Yoongi separate from his roguish reputation as the Blood Moon Prince, but the closer they grow, the heavier the secret of his true identity weighs. Will Seokjin see him any differently if he found out? Do the two of them even have a future, when Yoongi must return to the king’s service sooner or later... or, does he really have to?
