sasha is close enough to kiss, anne realizes with a belated sense of awe. sasha is close enough to kiss, and there’s a part of anne that doesn’t feel that same sense of disgust she had felt all those years ago when jeremy had asked for one. sasha is close enough to kiss, and there’s a part of anne that wants her to lean in and close the distance between them.
her feelings towards her two best friends have been understandably complicated since amphibia, but that was years ago, it had been years, and with the years came an understanding that they would always be together, friend or enemy or something more. they would always be connected, anne can’t imagine a world where she wasn’t part of a trio, where she didn’t have sasha and marcy by her side. not since she had almost lost them.
so maybe it’s not so strange, the realization that she wants them in more than what they are now.

or: post amphibia, anne thinks about how she's always wanted someone to kiss and hold and call her own. she never imagined she'd get two of them, or that they'd want her so fiercely in return.
