Summary
Astarion's latest hunt didn't go so well, but he's full of plans on how to spend the remainder of the night - mostly involving Tav on all fours - so he sneaks into her room to find her peacefully asleep. He will wake her up, he decides - but for a minute, maybe he'll just sit, and watch over her.

“You’re cold now,” Tav said. “Are you thirsty?”“Are you offering?” he purred.
As he spoke, he caught her hand in his and kissed her palm, watching her as he did. She was properly awake now, gazing at him with nervous fascination as he nuzzled again at her wrist, running the tip of his fangs along the blue veins that lay just under the skin. If he bit her, his heartbeat would rise to match hers, and he would warm up. It would relax soon afterwards and eventually slow down to almost nothing within a day, and then he would be cold again. But it was exceedingly pleasant while it lasted.
Especially when it was Tav’s blood, which sharpened his senses and made him hard. One day soon, he’d ask her to let him drink from her while he came inside her, which seemed a delightfully poetic circle of giving that he was sure he could string into a suitably romantic proposition, with enough planning.

If anyone had asked Tav a few months ago to take a morning walk, Tav might have answered with their lightning breath. They were not, and would never be, a morning person. The tadpole hadn’t changed that. Necessity, however, had gotten them enough in the habit of rising early to feel more curious than irritable at Karlach’s request.
Besides, Tav found themself in a particularly good mood this morning. There was a warmth in their core that came from more than the mug of coffee they’d just finished, flaring hotter when they caught the eye of a certain vampire spawn as they followed Karlach out toward the edge of camp.

Instead, she furrowed her eyebrows as she slowly nodded and glanced over her shoulder to see their supposed fearsome vampire brushing his hair and teasing his curls into place with his fingers.

Only a little while after picking up Wyll and Tavatha at the grove, Cordelia has to save the vampire in camp again from someone else who is trying to put a stake through his heart. It's a good thing Astarion can think on his feet just as quickly, even if his methods make Cordelia's head spin.

After a very long trip into the sewers, she was now sitting with her knees drawn to her chest on the bed, her whole posture turned into the wooden wall. She knew that from the outside perspective, she must have looked silly: a grown woman hugging a wooden wall, her face all but smushed into it. But she couldn’t help herself. The sewers were always the worst because they felt so artificial and simply reeked of danger.
She pressed her forehead even closer to the wall.
