Summary
“I understand you so much better now!” Tim jeered maniacally, not seeming to notice Dick’s attempts to shepherd him back and away. “Oh my god, how do you even think straight?”
“Timmy, that’s enough, come on—“
Tim shoved a hand hard against Dick’s sternum, and Jason could see it then, a sharp shift in his mood, attempting to move around him before Dick’s arm caught him at the waist again. “Seriously, not that it’s a competition, I mean, I would win—but I suppose you did claw your way out of a grave whereas I didn’t even reach mine, so, tomayto tomahto—“

Summary
[Tacenda; Things better left unsaid; matters to be passed over in silence].
“Jason,” Tim eventually ventured, fiddling with the uneven bumps of the ceramic he held. He doesn’t really know when this became normal for them, Jason bringing him coffee and making them breakfast, Tim sitting in his breakfast nook in one safehouse or the other. Tim, making Jason tea because he was awake first for a change (or had yet to sleep at all).
Jason, bringing Tim back to his personal, real house after Tim stumbled blindly through a drunken night.

Summary
Sometimes he reads to Tim, imagines him waking up and reciting the book word for word along with Jason, a duet of Walter Scott or Anna Sewell, Jason slowly thumbing through the pages of the leather bounds Tim keeps on a shelf up high. He imagines rolling his eyes as Tim talks over him, inky, raven hair spilling across the pillow, bright blue eyes focusing far off on the memory of reading those pages once, twice, thirteen times.

It is fate that brings them together, yet it is fate that tears them apart. Throughout his long life, Tim has watched Jason come and go, live and die, all while he remains the same, never changing.

The thing is that Tim's known for a while who his soulmate is. From the moment that a 'Red Hood' shows back up in Gotham, Tim knows exactly who the words stamped across the back of his thigh - 'Hey, Replacement' - belong to. Not a first conversation, not the last, but a moment somewhere in their lives that Tim has no choice but to wait for. Because really, how else is Tim ever going to convince him?

Summary
“Fuck, I need coffee,” Jason mutters as he waits in the short line.
“There’s a great place upstairs that always gives me an extra shot of espresso if I ask.” It takes Jason a moment to realize the comment is coming from the young man in front of him.
“Yeah?” he asks with a bit of interest. Coffee usually isn’t his thing, but at this time of day, he’s reconsidering his stance on that.
“Uh-huh!” The young man says with so much enthusiasm that Jason wonders just how much coffee he’s already had this morning. He looks like he’s just rolled out of bed and tossed on whatever he found before heading out the door.
If he cleaned up a bit, he’d probably be good looking.
