Ashru curls up beside Lauma, head pushing into her palm as he purrs against it. "Mreeooww mraw."
Lauma looks down at Ashru. "Worried?"
"Worried?" Nefer echoes and immediately her gaze snaps to Ashru. When Lauma looks back up as she realises she's been caught, all she sees is irritation crossing Nefer's face. "Is this not unfair? You get to understand him but I do not?"—
Ashru tries his best to get Lauma to realise some things about Nefer.

Summary
All Lauma can see is Nefer being flung like a ragdoll from Rerir’s abyssal domain, slumping to the ground, unmoving. Lauma cries out, but she is too far away. She can't even tell if Nefer is breathing. The battle rages on around them, but nothing else matters. There's only Nefer, the blood pooling around her, and the impassable distance between them.

“Speaking of your employees, where’s Ashru? He didn’t greet me today.” Lauma calls out Ashru’s name a couple times and waits for a response. Whatever she hears has her laughing.
“Ashru would like me to inform you that while he won’t refuse the new treats, he vastly prefer the old ones. Please place an order for him.”
Nefer rolls her eyes. “Please inform him that he can take what’s offered or find another place of employment. Perhaps he’ll be able to negotiate for the correct treats there.”
