“Oh?”
It’s not lost on House that Chase tilts his head up before responding. “This is why I didn’t want to do this with you.”
“And yet you’re still here. You haven’t gone to a priest.”
“A priest would be too kind to me,” Chase says, finally admitting what’s really stopped him.

Summary
As the head of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine, Chase is supposed to give a yearly lecture to visiting medical students. He decides to present a case study on the most complex patient he treated last year.
Putting aside the medical aspect of the case, Chase also has to contend with a diagnostics team that fights constantly, a dean of medicine who breaths down his neck, and his persistent fear that his old boss would be a little disappointed in him if he were still alive.
He doesn't include that last paragraph in the lecture, by the way. That stuff is personal.
