Viggo Grimborn was a broken man. His entire life, he was taught that dragons were something to be hunted, creatures to be culled. He was taught to never trust anyone, everyone lies. He was taught to never get attached, that love was weakness. He was ok with being the villain. His grandfather taught him well.
He lived by these rules for so long, that when a hero came and wrecked every single one of them, what could he do but fall?
The least he could do is die protecting the one he loved. He was destined to have a tragic end.
And yet, Hiccup saw fit to break that rule too.
(Viggo survives the events of Triple Cross. This changes everything.)

Viggo is nothing like he expected, but his plan to convince Viggo to change his ways suddenly goes sideways when the man decides to help Hiccup discover new things about himself, things that may tear the dragon riders apart from the inside.
