All of a sudden, it was as if Obi-Wan's world had been turned upside down. He was left standing alone in front of a pair of shoes he didn't know how to fill - and above all in front of his adoptive brother Anakin.
In theory, he wouldn’t have had to take responsibility, Qui-Gon hadn't been his biological father either. But he knew what it was like to spend years in a orphanage, waiting day after day for a ray of hope.
His ray of hope had been Qui-Gon Jinn. He had been thirteen when the bearded man had taken him in, slowly breaking down the walls Obi-Wan had carefully constructed around himself.
He had been given a chance.
And Anakin deserved it too. No matter what it cost.
