    Summary

Pomni’s last conversation with Jax is still running through her head – and her body, judging by the way she keeps flickering and twitching. She’s gone, Pomni couldn’t stop it, and the Circus is still a complete fucking mess.

But Jax left something behind that the other abstractions didn’t. In those last moments, before everything faded to white, Pomni was able to witness her remaining memories and distorted perceptions.

The framework of the Digital Circus was built with a single purpose: Take people’s memories and use it to create copies that will live forever.

Can it still work from the inside, and with so little data? Is it even worth trying?

There’s only one way to find out.

    Summary

On the final precipice of abstraction, Jax—against all reason, against all impossibility—glimpses the view from halfway down before he gives himself the chance to jump. The fall, after all, seems much worse when you’ve been given a better sense for what happens when you hit the ground. For better or worse, Jax now has his whole life ahead of him (or, at least, whatever counts as a life for a brain scan).

But it’s one thing, to decide that you don’t want to die. It’s another thing entirely to decide that you want to live.

(Or: It takes something like a miracle to stop Jax from abstracting. Fortunately, it just takes a hell of a lot of work to get her to figure out everything else.)

    Summary

One of the big problems with cracking your egg, Jax has found, is that once you’ve come to terms with it, the people around you don’t just get the memo via psychic link and immediately start calling you all the right words. No, apparently, you have to tell them everything yourself, which—ignoring literally every other thing that’s happened to her—is the worst thing that’s ever happened to her.

Fortunately, however, she’s got a plan. After all, what’s the use of building a reputation for making everyone solve weird (and typically time-sensitive) riddles in her wording if she can’t use it to her advantage sometimes?

Surely, this will go exactly how she’s expecting it to.

(Or: Five times ‘Jax’ drops hints about being trans, and one time she officially comes out.)
