“Why the hell are you here, Ian?”
Mickey’s tone is defeated, and his shoulders barely hold their shape. He’s tired. Exhausted, really. Ian can see that in every line of his body, every curve of his face.
There’s so much that Ian wants to say to him, so much he wants to scream across this phone line connecting them, but he can’t. His head is a mess, in more ways than one, and no matter how fast he tries to parse through his tidal wave of emotions, he can’t figure them out.
He broke up with Mickey. Right?
Only now, he can’t really remember why.
“I don’t know,” Ian says honestly, and hopes it’s enough.

Summary
“How long you in town for?”
Mickey’s voice, muffled by the cigarette hanging from his lips, pulls Ian from his trance. He looks over at him, and for a split second, Mickey looks younger, like the high school boy that used to bring Ian to his knees. But in reality, they’re in their mid-twenties and they’re starting to get lines on their faces, the teenagers they once were lost to the passing of a decade.
Instead of letting the memories linger, he wills them down with a gulp
“Just till the end of the weekend.”
OR: Ian comes home for Christmas and old habits die hard. Based on Tis the damn season by Taylor Swift.

Summary
“I wish you had gone to juvie.”
There was one of those automated clap-tracks on the television as another contestant got the question correct. Gallagher’s eyes were dark as the blue lights of the television screen threw weird shadows onto his face. Mickey wished, almost idly, that there was more lighting in the Milkovich household, if just so that Gallagher didn’t look so ominous. He picked up the remote and muted the TV.
A canon-divergent story from 1x09, in which Tony Markovich suspected foul play and coerced an unwilling Mickey Milkovich into revealing the truth about Kash Karib.

His whole fucking head feels like it’s being squeezed by a vice, and Mickey decides maybe he needs to tone things down a bit if he’s going to live to see another day.”
