The stadium detonated. Fermín was already grinning, already jogging toward the corner flag with his arms half-out, ready for the usual chaotic pile of limbs and shouting. What he was not ready for was Raphinha. The captain spun away from the goal like a man possessed, ignored every other teammate lunging at him, and zeroed in on Fermín with terrifying accuracy. Three long strides. One hand already lifting. And then— Fingers. Deep in his curls. A firm, unapologetic pull.
Fermín’s brain short-circuited so hard he almost forgot how to stand.

Summary
Why does it bother him so much? Why does seeing his best friend with someone else make him feel so irritable, as if Michael was personally doing something to provoke him?
Jamal rubs a hand over his face, and thinks it must be jealousy. He is jealous of Michael because Michael seems to have everything figured out. He’s older, more experienced, and has his shit figured out. All of their friends are around Michael’s age, and Michael was the one who introduced Jamal to half of them in the first place. Jamal has spent years following him around, trying and failing to catch up.
Or: Moving in with his best friend for university was supposed to be nothing short of a dream. While it's perfect in almost every aspect, Jamal Musiala can't figure out why he gets so bothered every time Michael brings a girl home.

Michael’s confused brain takes too long to process the words. “The first one?”
“Yeah,” Jamal replies, as if it were obvious, and wipes his chin with the back of his hand. “What’s your record? Four? I think we can make it to five today.”
Michael blinks at him, beautiful as a porcelain doll. His expression is a mix of confusion, anticipation, and apprehension, the glimmers of tears making his eyes shine brighter. He looks away and bites his swollen lower lip, hesitant.
“I can’t…”
“You can,” Jamal interrupts him with another deep kiss. “Of course you can, Mikey. You’re amazing.”
