She held it in two hands, stood it next to her, then, and Silka will never forget this, she tossed it behind her and hit a kid square in the chest with it. Silka will never forget how Maritte grinned at her before she did it. How she didn’t even need to look before she let it sail through the air. How she didn’t even see the tribute sneaking up on them, because she was too focused on how giddy Maritte was.
