Summary
The scene at the bedroom windows of Julian Larson and Logan Wright is a familiar one. Next door neighbors since they were very young, the two—along with their other best friend, Derek Seigerson, who lives across the street—have grown up together, and Julian and Logan’s bedrooms were right next to each other on the second floor of their homes. They’ve always taken advantage of this, the methods changing as they grew. From giggling little boys playing with cup phones and paper airplanes to preteens playing catch with Julian’s baseballs to now, teenagers talking late into the night.

Of course, he wants to tell Logan how he feels. Summary
Logan rolls his eyes. He’s never met anyone so spoiled that they refused to get up from the grass—despite the fact that it was raining harder than it had in months—and just rolled over and went back to sleep, sopping wet clothes be damned. No, he would absolutely not get up on his own. If they didn’t want him to get sick, they’d have to carry him back to Stuart themselves.
“Diva,” Logan mouths at the head of brown hair soaking his shirt in rainwater.
Julian naps anytime, anywhere. Logan is always there to make sure he's safe and comfortable.

Julian nuzzles Logan’s throat, still half-asleep, inhaling the comforting aroma of old books, soothing vanilla, and soft lily of the valley, with notes of something clean, like that of the warm blankets he would bundle himself up in on cold mornings.

Summary
Logan with an arm thrown over his eyes, hand gripping his pill bottle so hard it’s denting, tears rolling down his face, jaw clenched. His pillow is soaked with tears.
Julian backstage in a dressing room. He’s staring at his reflection in the dresser mirror like he doesn’t know who he’s seeing, but he doesn’t like him. He puts his sunglasses on. His hands are clenching the dresser’s table edge. Tears trace down his face silently and fall on the table, staining the wood.

Summary
Julian’s bright smile more than makes up for the absence of the sun, his entire being seeming to radiate light as he lay on the grass with his eyes closed, rain pouring from the heavens. He’s soaked to the bone. He hears footsteps approaching but doesn’t move. A hand caresses the side of his face and he hums happily, leaning into the touch. The hand slides up into his hair as another weaves their fingers through his own, squeezing gently. Julian squeezes back. Logan presses a kiss to his lips and doesn’t ask him to come inside. Julian never knew life could be this calm.
