Summary
Leah hadn’t exactly expected this trip to be one of moonbeams and rainbows – nothing about her marriage had ever been thus – but the courtesy her husband had typically treated her with had evaporated as soon as they had landed in his homeland.

Summary
Bran’s eyes flashed amber, just briefly, just enough to warn her that he was close to an edge. “Well, I exiled my wife and mate to a realm beyond my purview. You might have heard.”

Summary
The entire point of these charades was to create convincing backstories, ones that would hold up to the scratching of any devious investigative officials. Charles was adept at hiding money trails, creating fake profiles, but these days it was the ‘softer’ forms of identity creation that created a realistic-looking life.
At least, that was what Bran thought.

Summary
On her dressing table, a sheet of paper, half folded under a bottle of her favorite, rarely-used perfume.
She teased it out with a finger. It unfolded all by itself.
I love you, he had written in his distinctive handwriting. The words were as plain as the nose on her face.

Summary
He had been promising himself that when he saved her, when he worked out how to save her, he would confess his sins. It had been something to pin his hopes on. That there might be a new beginning for them.

Summary
The reality was influenza – or any of the more obvious human viruses – would pass through werewolves quite quickly and the recovery would be similarly swift. Still. It wouldn’t be pleasant.

Summary
He did not like her. That was plain. Though her situation was a confusing one – with so much lost to her recent memory – Leah increasingly felt as if her very existence was a burden to him. He felt responsibility for her, in an odd way, for he had apparently been involved in her survival, though he claimed not as much as his brother had been. His brother – whom Leah only vaguely remembered, a snapshot of his bright, fierce face, so similar to this Bran’s. But she pushed his face away because it felt like the beginning of something big and terrible.

Revealing to his mate of two centuries that he loved her went about as well as Bran could have expected.

Summary
Leah allowed few into her personal bubble. And by ‘few’, she really meant Anna. But even Anna was hesitant around her. Any touches were well communicated in advance. Affection, in Leah’s experience, came with a side of expectations.

Summary
Bran’s wolf, and Bran, had been together a very, very long time. If there had been a line between them once that Bran could easily identify, it was lost to history now. What the wolf felt was what Bran felt. Leah was his. Every inch of her belonged to him

Summary
As it grew closer to dawn, most of the pack scattered back to their homes including Leah herself, leaving her husband and a few others to their hunt. She headed upstairs to change in the privacy of her bedroom – because that was what she always did – and then, meeting her wolf-blue eyes in the mirror of the jewelry tower, Leah came face to face with Bran’s manipulation.

Summary
Bran couldn’t say his phone calls to check in with the family left him feeling any better. Indeed, he was now left with the same low-grade irritation he was always left with – that his children didn’t mind him as they should and that he didn’t see enough of them

Summary
“Indeed, if there was to be an idealized pattern card of werewolf womanhood at that point in history, you would have been it. A killer and a lady, at the same time,” Bran said wistfully, as if he had never considered this before.

Summary
Leah was under no illusions that the family were right leaning. She knew, too, that her fostering had been part of a PR move on their part. 'Rumoured Death Eater family adopt Muggle-born so can’t be all bad' had very much been the tone of many articles written after her ‘rescue’. Mrs. Selwyn herself was very public with a variety of charities – war orphans and educating Muggle-borns – and Leah had spent many a weekend as a teenager being on hand for such occasions, brought out to demonstrate the Selwyns’ commitment to rehabilitating their family name.

Summary
Very few things shocked Bran these days and this was the last place he expected to be shocked.
He was blindsided by this. This of all things.
“It’s not that big of deal,” Leah said, stubbornly, thereby neatly reaffirming Bran’s suspicion that it was, in fact, a big deal.

Summary
The Alpha’s happiness was a beacon in the heart of a pack but Leah had not known Bran was unhappy, had not known that his unhappiness influenced their people to such a degree. And though they had not spoken of it, she did not think Bran had known that either. Or if he had it was like everything else – something he ignored for the purpose of his goals.

Summary
Generally speaking, most of Dana’s patients didn’t actually want to be ‘in’ therapy. Many were referred by doctors. Some were pressed into it by loved ones or even, in some cases, employers. Increasingly she was finding that the younger generations were more inclined to voluntarily seek mental help – embracing the benefits of talking through concerns and issues.
She did not feel this was the situation here.

“I miss you,” Bran replied quickly, before he allowed their somewhat inevitable practicalities to overtake the conversation.
“Oh.” Leah could not have sounded more baffled. “How nice.”

Summary
Bran had finally done the thing. He had told the woman who had slept at his side for two centuries that he loved her. He had quite literally bared his soul to her in a confession that felt as if he was lifting an armored truck from his shoulders.
