With his mom dying and his father taking him and Sam on wild goose chase after wilder goose chase to track down her killer until Sam couldn't take it anymore and ran off, it pretty much sucked. But now he has Cas. And Cas is great--perfect, even--definitely the best thing that's ever happened to him, even if he isn't quite human. He's been living so long in domestic bliss that he completely forgot to be worried about waiting for the other shoe to drop. Which is, of course, when his giant of a brother strolls back into his life sending Dean into a panic that he and Cas will have to uproot their perfect apple pie life if Sam finds out Cas' big secret.

Things were a blur before "After". They weren't great by any means, but compared to what was happening to Dean now, "Before" was practically heaven. Dean's having trouble hiding the bruises, but if Sam knows, he doesn't seem to put two and two together; Dean absolutely refuses to believe that his brother just doesn't care. He tries to push through it, knowing that things have been tough on his dad, but when he starts to fear that one of these times his father isn't going to stop, he heads out to seek refuge from a few friends. When word gets out that John is hellbent on getting Dean back, though, Dean's afraid that he might've just brought three innocents into a war that they were never meant to be apart of. *Title from the song "No Son Of Mine" by Genesis.*

The parts in this series were inspired by the art of my-wayward-son-carry-on on Tumblr, who draws/writes about the Supernatural AU with Blind!Dean and Artist!Cas/Barista!Cas. You should check these out; they're fantastic! I put them on here so I could find them easily and because others seem to enjoy them; they've been the most popular works I've written.
So in this AU, Dean is blind from a childhood accident, he meets Castiel (an artist) who works in a coffee shop and they start dating. Again, the ideas all originated from my-wayward-son-carry-on.
