Freezing from the Inside Out - Buck/Eddie

Summary
There’s a burst of fire, and the crash of metal. There’s so much chaos everywhere he looks, but a solitary voice makes it through the cacophony of noise. Eddie’s name on Buck’s lips - a scream torn from him like something stolen, like something he’s trying to claw back.
The cameraman doesn’t know where to focus at first; there’s too much going on. But when it settles Eddie feels his heart splintering inside of his chest.
Buck, on his hands and knees. Buck digging, desperate and frantic, through 30ft of solid, wet earth. Buck’s fractured voice wrapping around Eddie’s name as he begs, and pleads, and screams for him. Buck, more terrified - more hysterical - than Eddie has ever seen him before.
(Or, Eddie learns that Buck dug through the mud for him.)

Summary
Eddie’s house has felt far too quiet in the months since Christopher left, without the sound of video games, or the clack of crutches, or the quiet rumble of Christopher’s voice as he talks to himself while doing his homework. It’s felt empty - every lonely sound echoing back on itself to give the illusion that it isn’t really alone. But, as the door clicks closed behind Buck, the whole place falls completely silent. It’s like the last part of its beating heart has left, and now nothing but an empty shell remains.
A house is not a home if there is no love living there, and Eddie just sent the last of it packing.

Buck is beautiful always. Early in the morning, when his eyes are blurry and his curls are a mess and he’s making their kid breakfast. He’s beautiful when they’re out on a call, and his face is set with the hard lines of determination. There’s never a single moment where Eddie doesn’t look at him and feel absolutely bowled over by how fucking lovely he is.
But desperate Buck - whiny, begging, pleading Buck, who’s sweaty and pink and just on the verge of tears? That Buck is absolutely fucking gorgeous. That Buck steals Eddie’s breath from his lungs and makes his very molecules ache with want.

When he first moved there, Hannah thought him to be a true gentleman, a single father who had been nothing but loving toward his son.
Now, looking at the wilting man in front of her, sad and wrapped in his fuzzy pink cardigan, she felt a pit formed in her stomach.
Oh, no. Eddie cheated on him.
Buck unknowingly found himself being adopted by a group of housewives who were fully convinced Eddie was the worst man alive.

Luckily they are saved by the fire fighters who band together to dig them out. He catches his mate's scent when, but he's lost in the crowd. Eddie hears his mate's thoughts but his mate can't hear his.

The quiet, comfortable silence was broken by Christopher coming back into the kitchen, a confused frown on his face and what looked to be a slim stack of homework in his hands.
“Hey, dad? Can you help me with my science homework?” Christopher asked softly, coming up beside Buck and leaning into his side.
Eddie winced. “I’ll try, buddy, but you know science isn’t my forte,” Eddie replied, looking to Buck for help.
Christopher giggled. “I know, daddy. That’s why I asked dad!” He said, leaning more heavily against Buck and putting the papers he was holding down in front of him.
There was a sudden stillness in the room as Christopher’s words washed over Buck and Eddie, their meaning and implications sinking in.
