“By Nikador’s name,” Mydei said, slightly awed. He glanced towards their bedroom where Phainon was waiting for him, then turned back to the wrapped condom he had pulled out of the pack. He glanced at the size again, just to be sure, and no, he had seen it right.
“Blessed by the Titans … Phainon is taking these things down like an absolute champ,” Mydei said, shaking his head slightly in disbelief. “What incredible strength.”
He ignored the faint feeling of dread that had begun to bury itself in the back of his throat, practically shaking him. He felt like he was missing something. Something important.
Or, Mydei naturally assumes he’s going to top during his and Phainon’s first time. Afterall, he’s the alpha and Phainon’s the beta. He’s just … slightly intimidated by the size Phainon is apparently used to taking. He doesn’t want to disappoint, that’s all.

“For me, baby.” Phainon kissed Mydei’s skin, just above his navel.
“I…already told you,” he said breathily, “there’s no need to call me that.”
“You said it yourself. I won the duel, so I can call you whatever I want to. Don’t think I didn’t see you blush just then.”
Mydei said nothing-something he did when Phainon had flustered him. Or, as Phainon liked to put it-when he’d won. He’d remember these little victories and bring them up in later conversation, a habit that Mydei claimed annoyed him to no end.
Phainon would tell him to not freeze up when shown affection, and to say something sweet back to him. Mydei would huff and cast his gaze downwards.
The same scenario played out every time, but it always made Phainon happy. A sign he was in love, although he’d figured that out long ago.

Summary
The neighborhood was peaceful at this hour. The dewy grass glistened, and local songbirds chirped their familiar songs; Mira perked her ears and looked up, but quickly lost interest and resumed her rest. Mydei stroked her fur soothingly. Ginger cats had a reputation for being rowdy, but his was the calmest creature he’d ever met.
She was purring now—the noise was soothing, and Mydei felt himself smile. He gave her a quick kiss on the top of her head before opening the cover of his book.
Poetry wasn’t Mydei’s typical choice of literature, but As I’ve Written had been dominating the reading world as of late. The book’s high ratings and widespread discussion were nothing if not intriguing, and the past few novels Mydei had read he felt had fallen short; he’d stopped by the library on his way home from the office, and snatched the last copy off the shelf.
He thumbed past the title page and table of contents, landing on the first segment—The Triplets of Fate. He began reading, but he hadn’t even gotten past the first few words before he heard a man shouting.
“Snowy!"
